Well, here’s the first actual bug fix for AW. It’s just a very minor text error, but I figure I might as well upload the fix now before I forget instead of waiting for more (which hopefully won’t be coming). You can find the bug fix in the downloads section.

I hope everyone’s enjoying the Chapter One SE and, if you’ve gotten to it, the Chapter Two demo. I have a couple of important things to mention:
First of all, I want to remind everyone that in order to play Antioch Wars (or any game made with RPGMaker 2000) you must download the RM2K Run-Time Package (RTP). It’s 11.4 megs, but it’s a one-time download. And since a working copy of the installer has finally been found (by our brand new forumer Afelia), it’s now available in the downloads section.
Second, those of you who have played through to the demo may have noticed that the intro says, at one point, “the mountains of [name].” At the time of the writing, Seawolf and I wracked our brains trying to think up a suitable name for these mountains, until we came up with a great idea: Why not let you, the fans, name them? So send us your ideas—e-mail them, post them on the forum, we don’t care—and, on January 9 (two weeks from now), we’ll pick our favorite out of the suggestions to use in the final release of Antioch Wars Chapter Two: Divide and Conquer. So start thinking, and send in those names!

Update: Due to some bugs pointed out by a couple folks and some complications when trying to unzip the files, the two zip files containing the Chapter 1 SE and Chapter 2 Demo have been replaced as of 8:00pm EST. (Update 2: The first zip file has been updated again as of 11:15pm EST.) Make sure to download them again, and read the updated instructions on the download page.
Oh, and something I forgot yesterday. If you have save slots left from the original Chapter 1 release back in April, they won’t work now. The database has seen extensive re-tooling, as have a number of switches and variables and...yeah. Don’t use them.

Happy Twsoday, folks! Whether it be Monday the 22 or Tuesday the 23 when you see this, it’s still Twosday. (If you’re seeing this on another day, then...uh...hey, look over there!)
So what is “Twosday,” you ask? Simple...the day you get two new downloads for Antioch Wars. There are two zip files in the downloads section that include two new releases: the Chapter 1 SE and the Chapter Two demo. Seeing a pattern here?
So, go ahead and download ’em, play ’em, enjoy ’em. Try not to cry too much when you see how big they are. :P (Future chapters, which will reuse many files from Chapter 1, won’t be nearly this big. Honest.) And be sure to read the ReadMe file in the first zip, whether you like reading directions or not...there’s actually some important info in there. Also, be sure, of course, that you have RPGMaker 2000 and the RTP file that comes with it installed, or Antioch Wars will not run properly. If you don’t have RM2k, we will likely be adding it to our server soon, so just hang on a day or two and you can get it right here. We’ll also fix up a couple images that now need updating. Pay no attention to the upper-right corner of the page until then.
Thanks for your patience, and look for more info on Chapter 2 soon...and hopefully not a bunch of bugfix files. *cough*
Happy Holidays!

The retooled, expanded version of The Sundering SE and the Divide and Conquer demo are in the hands of the testers. They actually have been for a couple days, I was just too lazy to say so until now.
That’s about it. Keep checking back and there will be more soon.

Howdy, all. Hope your holiday season is going well. If not, this’ll help: The Sundering SE and the Divide and Conquer Demo should be an early Christmas present. How early I’m not gonna say, but check for updates over the next few days.
And they’ll be bigger and better than even we hoped. The SE has been loaded with extras the last few weeks, and the Chapter 2 Demo is easily twice as big as we originally intended, with the vast majority of the maps being brand-spankin’-new. Your eyes, ears, and brain will be very happy, methinks. I’m excited to be right on the threshold of showing you the fruits of the last few months of labor, and a peek of things to come.
So again, watch the site and check the forum in coming days. It’s gonna be a Merry Christmas after all. :)

As promised, there’s a mixed bag of new screen shots from the SE and Chapter 2 demo for you to feast your eyes on, and also a surprise: a new short story that will hopefully just be the first of several. This one tells the story of how Peer was driven from his last appearance in Online Life and came to Antioch. Enjoy.

So, I go to look at the website tonight before making this here news post, and I’m poking around to see if everything’s in order. Go to the downloads section and whoa! The SE Beta that was uploaded for the B-Team weeks back is up in the downloads page for everyone to see!
Strong Bad: Holy crap!
Anyways, that’s resolved now, so if you weren’t poking around there yourself before, it’s too late to get a sneak peek now. If you were and you got a hold of the beta...well, I guess enjoy it. But also know that it’s not done, and the bugfixes were not complete. So if you send an e-mail saying something along the lines of “WTF it dosnt WORK!”, I won’t have much pity for you. :P
But the reason I came to post in the first place is just a few little less stress-inducing news items. The first is that Yar Kramer rocks. The SE is chock full of so much of his original and rearranged music that the original Chapter 1 release seems like a trumpet soloist competing with the National Symphony Orchestra. The latest and last (for the SE) example just arrived a couple days ago and has now been implemented. Find all the major secrets in the SE and you’ll get to hear it. ;)
The SE is essentially done now, with most of the bugs the B-Team reported squashed and only a couple minor ones remaining. The demo is progressing nicely, and we’ll have some screenies of that up for you to ogle over soon.
It’s taking a little longer than we hoped after our last news post (doesn’t it always?), but we’re moving along at a good clip, and there will finally be new downloads of the retooled past and a preview of the future soon.
So stay tuned, and until next time, this is Seawolf, signing off.

Just so you all know, the SE is now in the hands of the B-Team. Also note that Typh is now an official B-Teamer, even though I’m too lazy to update the About page saying so right now. (Okay, okay...fine. I updated it.)
Speaking of Typh: “Wolfie, you’re not using real paragraphs (two breaks, like you would use on a forum) in your updates, and it bothers me somewhat. :)” Well here, ya crazy ninja rat. Happy now? :P Seriously, thanks to Typh for taking on the new testing responsibilites, continuing to make the website better (with updated features for us staffers added just today!), and for fathering Phalanx’s child. He might appreciate that last one more than me, but you know. *cough*
...I need to stop drinking tea after 10. Oh, and happy daylight savings...whatever! I’ll be using the extra hour to work on the Chapter 2 Demo. Or something.

Well, “pretty much done” was apparently jumping the gun just a bit. As usually happens when you’re combing through expecting to find everything pretty much done, you run into areas where whole sections were left untouched when you thought they’d already been taken care of.
This was no exception.
However, the good news is that the B-Team should be getting the SE this weekend (hopefully tomorrow), and sans the new credits and any bugs they encounter, it will be the final version.
That’s about it. Just wanted to let you know ahead of time (for once) about the brief delay.
Until next time.

Hey, all. Long time no...update.
Well I got one for you now. First, the news: as you could probably guess by the new image in the upper-right, The Sundering SE is pretty much done. Just a couple more tweaks and a hearty round of testing and bug-squashing and it will be in your hands. Same with the Chapter 2 Demo, which will be worked on a lot over the next week or two and bundled with the SE in a soon-to-come release. There’s been a recent interview with our “press secretary” Shade on this matter recently: check the forums for that.
Now, some eye and ear candy. There’s 8 new screen shots and a new batch of music themes and compositions that will appear in the SE and beyond. Enjoy, and as always, feedback is very welcome.
Until next time, this is Seawolf, signing off and hitting the sack.

I know its been a while since the last news post, but trust me when I say that the only reason for that is because we’ve been working hard on the SE and Chapter 2 demo, both of which I think you’ll enjoy.
Also, thanks go to Avatar Prime for letting us use his webspace for this site and to Typhoon for making some minor coding changes that will make it easier for us to update.

Hey, all. I know there hasn’t been much here or in the forums to indicate it, but the Chapter 1 SE and Chapter 2 are going very smoothly after a few hectic end-of-the-semester weeks for Zer and I. The SE is almost done, and the Chapter 2 demo is moving along surprisingly fast. It won’t be much longer now before they’re done and in your hands.
For now, there’s some more Screen Shots for you to ogle over, and there will be a few more little things to look at and listen to shortly.
Oh, and I’ll think of some horrible punishment for Typh later. Something very bad and very very painful. Just you wait. You’ll see.

Howdy, there. I’m the web site monkey ’round these parts. I accidentally overwrote Seawolf’s old update from April 17. Whoops. Very sorry, Wolfie. Also very sorry to anyone who nearly had a coronary thrombosis when they opened up the Antioch Wars site and got some weird page about East–West Coalitions or such.
Here’s the gist of Wolf’s update, anyway: the About page has a bit more info (including some projected release dates), the Downloads page has been reorganized (I think we’ll need to update the mirrors, though), and the Character Bios section has been extended with a bunch of neat bios for characters in the upcoming Chapter One: Special Edition (including me!). The Special Edition will feature new good guys, new bad guys, new locations, and a sneak preview of Chapter Two. It’ll be cooler than free ice cream, baby.
Best regards!

In what will hopefully be the final patch for Antioch Wars: Chapter One, version 1.71 has been released and fixes a few more fairly minor bugs.

Posted by
Seawolf
Patch 1.7 is up now on the Downloads page. Minor bugs, but annoying ones for sure if you hit them. Once again, the name is still the same, so replace what you’ve got and go for it. Won’t affect what you’ve already done.
And keep those reports coming in. We appreciate it.

Well, after a day of bug squashing, we have what will hopefully be the final patch on the Downloads page. It is the same name as the patches earlier today, yes, but this is version 1.62, and should do it. *crosses fingers* So go grab it and try it once more, and know that this will not happen again. Several lessons learned today.

Seawolf
Well, it was probably inevitable considering Zer and I did some last-minute tweaking after the B-Team finished their work...bugs. Minor ones mostly, but one stops the game. If you haven’t hit it yet, good, because the patch can be found in the Downloads page.

Please welcome our newest tester, Yar Kramer, who’s helping to get Antioch Wars: Chapter One balanced and bug free by April 1.
Also, it has come to my attention that the RPGMaker link I gave a few days ago does not work. This one does work, and as there are 15 mirrors to choose from you should be able to find a good download. Remember, all you need is the RTP v1.00 file. The others (especially the RTP v1.32) are useless if you’re only interested in playing Antioch Wars.

It’s coming. Barring any horrendously bad and possibly world-shattering events, Antioch Wars Chapter One will be released Tuesday, April 1. This is not an April Fool’s Joke. It is reality. It also occurs to me that some of you might not have RPGMaker 2000. While you do not need the actual maker to play Antioch Wars, you do need the RTP files (which contain basic graphics and sounds). I must warn you that it is, unfortunately, an 11 meg file, but you’ll only need to do it once. Plus, if you download the maker (which is only three or four megs), you can make your own games too. Oh and you don’t need the RTP v1.32 file, since we’re not using that.

Yikes, it’s almost halfway through February and this is our first update of 2003. Sorry about that. Those of you who frequent Antioch know that another long-running project has kept me tied up lately, and schoolwork has had both Zer and I bogged down, too. But time is no longer as scarce and we’re running with AW again. :)
So to make up for time lost the last month and a half, there’s some new Screen Shots for you to ogle over, showing what progress we have made since...uh...nevermind when. ;) Enjoy.
